Marbella on the Costa del Sol (Southern Spain) 

Marbella is one of the most exclusive holiday resorts along the Costa del Sol. The city is full of life and features a spacious seaside area. Close to the beautiful beaches you will find a promenade with restaurants, bars and clubs. There are approximately 25 kilometres of high-quality beaches in and around the city.

Climate

Marbella has an average temperature of 18C degrees throughout the year. In summer the temperature is usually 25C-35C degrees. The area has approximately 320 sun-filled days per year, with rain generally limited to November and March.

Food

Most of us are well acquainted with paella, gazpacho and chorizo, but the Spanish art of cooking offers much more than this. Spain is the origin of a broad range of stews, soups, beans, fish- and meat dishes.
Lunch, the main meal of the day, is usually served between 13.30 and 16.00; Supper tends to be much lighter than in Northern Europe and is served between 22.00 and 23.00.

Night life

The night life of Marbella is quite vivid, featuring discos, bars and clubs. Several of the venues offer live music. Marbella is also known for its fiestas. There is a fiesta in the first part of June for the town's saint, San Bernabé, and another in July as the fishermen pay tribute to their saint during 'Fiesta de la Virgen del Carmen'.

Attractions

The apartment is situated in an area called Las Chapas, at the eastern end of Marbella. The closest beach is Las Chapas/Cabopino - only five minutes away by car. There are several other beautiful beaches along the coast.

Cabopino Golf is nearby, and another (approximately) 30 golf courses within a half-hour drive away.

A two-hour drive away from the apartment, you will find the downhill slopes of Sierra Nevada (Host of the alpine World Championships in 1996).

Cities

The apartment is 11 kilometres away from Marbella's city centre and 18 kilometres from Fuengirola, which offers a variety of leisure activities. Charming Calahonda is only five kilometres away.

Renting a car is recommended, as there are no restaurants or shops within walking distance of the apartment. By foot, the restaurants are approximately 20 - 30 minutes away.  A supermarket is located a 15-minute walk away from the apartment.  Local taxies are also available.

Car

There is no car available at the apartment. Car rental in the area is fairly affordable.

You will find an information file in the living room. The file provides tips on excursions and sightseeing. Please add your own comments in the guest book (also found in the living room).

Miscellaneous

If you want a welcoming package that consists of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, juice, water, egg, bacon, bread, butter and soda - this will cost approximately 15 Euro.

Flights

It is necessary to organise your own flights to and from Marbella. Prices may vary, but are usually approximately in the range of 1 000 - 3000 NOK from Norway.

From Malaga airport

Taxi:  A taxi from the airport to the apartment will cost approx 50-55 Euros. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes.

Car: As you come out of the airport you will come to a roundabout. Go straight through the roundabout (sign posted Algeciras, Cadiz) and stay in the right-hand lane, so that the San Miguel factory is on your right. Follow the road around to the right. You will now be at a give way sign that approaches a three-lane road. When you enter the three-lane road, stay in the right-hand lane. You will pass the BMW showroom on your right. The right-hand lane will take you on to the AP7 for Algeciras, Cadiz.

Follow this road (AP7) for approximately 15 minutes, the road then splits into AP7 Peaje to Algeciras and Cadiz, and A7 Fuengirola. You need to take the exit for the A7 Fuengirola, exit 214. Follow the road around to the left. You are now on the A7 (coast road). Stay on this road for approximately 15 minutes.

Take the exit for Las Chapas. You will then come to a roundabout. Take the first exit so OpenCor is on your right-hand side. Follow the road straight ahead. Drive straight ahead through the mini roundabout with the security hut on it. You will pass the Doña Pepa Commercial Centre on your right. Go down and then up the hill. Where the road forks, go to the left. Drive all the way up the hill. You will drive under an archway with a shield and R M on it and a security hut on your right hand side.


At the first roundabout turn back on yourself and the block is on your right hand side.

Booking

Omega accommodation is a part of the Omega Advantage programme. Employees can use their Advantage Points to pay for bookings.

Points required

Standard rate: 5000 Advantage+ points per night.

Please note that the nightly rate for properties may be higher during busy periods.

How to book

1. On the "Intranet Omega AS" drop-down menu (on the left-hand side of the page) click on "Accommodation/Bookings".
2. On the calendar next to the property you wish to book, click on the date you would like to check-in. A pop-up will appear requesting the date you would like to check-out.
3. Choose the day you would like to check-out. The number of Advantage Points required for your stay will appear.
4. Enter any comments regarding your booking.
5. Click on "Save Booking" to book.  Your booking will now appear on the booking calendar in green.
